The Young American Patriots Fife & Drum Corps "YAPs" is an award-winning, performance-oriented parade band dedicated to perpetuating the music, history & heritage of our nation's founding.  We are based in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area of California (Pleasanton) and are seeking new members (8+ years old).  FYI we are musicians...not a politically-affiliated group!

YAPs is taking the Bay Area by storm and has performed in over 20 events thus far.  We've played for an audience of well over 3,000 people at San Francisco's Moscone Center, and we were selected by a panel of 5 parade judges as first place category winners receiving one of only 22 awards given out to over 130 entrants at the Danville 4th of July parade. 


WHAT WE DO:
We give fife (like a flute) & drum instrumental lessons in Pleasanton each Friday at 6:30 PM (see calendar).  Members will learn how to read music, play the fife or drum, and eventually how to compose and write their own music.  In our teaching we emphasize three key concepts:
Music, History and Leadership. 

We have performed at many exciting venues, including Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the Moscone Center, a San Francisco Venture Capital & Technology Tradeshow, and the Alameda County Fairgrounds. YAPs hosts occasional guest speakers from the community, and we do numerous other educational and fun history & heritage-related activities.  Families are welcome & encouraged to attend all events and activities.

Music lessons are from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM each Friday night (see schedule tab) in Pleasanton (that’s right parents; you get your date night back!).  

YAPs TEACHERS:
Professional Drum Instructor Anna  Cucciardo is a Bay Area native with a degree from UC Berkeley.  Anna has a varied musical background which includes marching band, rock & roll, jazz and classical drumming. She continues to perform professionally, touring with various bands including Go Kart Mozart, West Grand Boulevard, and Seth Chapla. Anna also owns Music Time Academy, a local music lessons studio and retail store(www.musictimeacademy.com).

YAPs founder and fife instructor Jason Giaimo is a Master Fifer and previous NJ State Fife Champion.  He is also a three-time national gold medalist at the US East Coast Fife Championships.  Known widely as "Jersey-Jason," he has been playing fife since the age of seven and has performed extensively both in the US and in Europe.
